Description:
Lake Kanas and Horm Village is located within the Altay mountain Range in Northern Xinjiang that is also shared by Russia, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan. Within the primitive forests and snow covered peaks of Lake Kanas region is China's answer to the Swiss Alps. The Lake Kanas area, with its abundance of meadows and grassland still serves as home to some of China’s last nomadic tribes. Horm Village, also referred to as Hemu in Chinese is the home of the Tuva People, a small ethnic minority group of Mongolian descent. They are proud to believe that they are the descendents of Genghis Khan, and that they were left behind to guard these lands during the Great Khan’s conquest of the rest of Asia and Europe. This horse trekking trip is a true adventure that offers you a rare opportunity to explore some of China’s most well-protected and primitive nature, and a glimpse into a fast-disappearing way of life of the nomadic people. Late September is also the best time to witness the autumn colors and shifting of the herdsman before the winter arrives in mid-October.
